Celebrate all things snow at the 13th annual Souper Snow Sculpture Spectacular to support current and future homeless pets at South Wood County Humane Society.

Teams and individuals are invited to sculpt a 4’x4′ block of snow! All talent levels are encouraged to participate. Cash prizes will be awarded with 1st place receiving $300, 2nd – $200, 3rd – $100, 4th – $75 and 5th – $50. This is a great venue businesses, clubs, nonprofits and civic groups to share more about their organizations as more than 500 community members attend Souper Snow Sculpture Spectacular and countless others view the sculptures in the days following out event. Last year, over 400 brave souls took the plunge in Wisconsin Rapids. The best part? After their bodies returned to 98.6°F and the donations were tallied, they raised more than $82,000 for Special Olympics Wisconsin.

Join us for the 1st annual Snowshoe walk at Anchor Bay Bar and Grill. All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Wisconsin! The course is a one mile long trail throughout the woods behind Anchor Bay.

This event is being held in conjunction with the Wisconsin Rapids Polar Plunge. Check in starts at 9:00 am and the walk will begin at 10:00 am. Plunging and live music by BoomBoxx will start at 12:00. There will be a heated beer/concession tent with fun all day!

Nora Helmer lives with her husband Torvald and her three children in 1879 Norway. Torvald is ambitious and keen to keep up appearances in a strict 19th century society. Nora tries to be the model wife. Together they create a façade of a life until fate intervenes. Ibsen’s play is considered a challenge to the marriage vows of the time and the actors who play the roles. A Doll’s House will be performed as the culmination of a WRCT Ibsen workshop.
Performances are on Feb. 9, 10, 15, 16, 17 at 7:30pm and Feb. 18 at 2:00pm.

The Radar Race is a club fundraiser and all money go back into the trails in Wood & Portage Counties that are maintained by The Kellner Knights Snowmobile Club. The KIDS from Wisconsin have begun their search for the most talented performers, ages 15-20 across the state.
Instrumentalists and vocalists/dancers should apply online: https://www.kidsfromwisconsin.org/info for a spot at the annual February auditions to be held February 16th in Eau Claire and February 23rd-25th in Milwaukee.

Seeking 35 Performers
22- Singer/dancers
13 – Instrumentalists to include: Percussion, Piano/Synth, Guitar, Bass, Trombones (Bass and Tenor), Trumpets, Woodwinds (must play alto, tenor and possibly baritone saxophones and clarinet)

Eligibility
• Must be a Wisconsin resident or Wisconsin college resident
• Must be between the ages of 15 and 20 from June 1 and August 20, 2018
• Fill out online application and all required documentation
• Walk on auditions welcome, only if time allows
• Full summer commitment from June through August 20th

The summer of 2018 will mark the 50th anniversary for the Kids from Wisconsin. The KIDS perform each summer throughout Wisconsin with twice daily shows at the Wisconsin State Fair. They began in 1969 to showcase the best faces and talent of Wisconsin’s youth. They have remained true to their mission and are now one of the most iconic and beloved performing troupes throughout Wisconsin. Performing in nearly 65 shows each summer to over 120,000 terrific fans.
This wholesome group of performers showcase the best of the best in musical talent.

The Wisconsin Rapids Family Center’s 13th annual Men in the Kitchen fundraiser is set for Feb. 24, 2018, at Bull’s Eye Country Club, 2800 Ridgewood Trail, Wisconsin Rapids. This event features local “celebrity” male chef teams, who prepare themed meals for the guests. There also will be a cash bar, raffle baskets, and a Fund-A-Need auction for a specific need of The Family Center.

The event begins at 5 p.m. with the social hour/cash bar; followed by dinner from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Fund-A-Need auction follows dinner.

Tickets are $100 per person. All proceeds benefit The Family Center, the nonprofit agency providing support and shelter for victims of domestic and/or sexual violence. All services are confidential and provided to victims at no cost to the victim.

Come out for a night of fun, food, and fundraising — and support The Family Center!

The Wood County Children’s Advisory Committee would like to invite families who have children currently being served or are on either Wood County Children’s Waivers or CCOP waiting list to become a member of the Wood County Children’s Advisory Committee Meeting. If interested, you may also give us a call to be a “member at large” to work on special projects!

Your participation will help shape future children’s services within Wood County. What works? What do you need? How can we improve?

The members of this committee include parents, community partners and county staff. The committee members meet Quarterly to assist in the establishment and operational policies that guide WCHSD in administering government funded services to the children and youth of Wood County with multiple, often serious needs who meet the eligibility for County programs.
